Travels, travels … such remains, over the many gatherings, the idea at the core of the Sea Chanty Festival and of Music from the World Seas. It’s now been 20 years-yes, 20 years!- since the Paimpol Festival first invited us to its world of dreams, escape, exile, meetings, discovery…
A discovery of the music of Brittany, a wide opening onto « Music from The World Seas»…Who said that to know the other, one first had to know oneself? Thus, the Sea Chanty Festival invites you, once again, to a kind of introspection. Music from here and over there.
Over there? America! The New World! It is indeed about dream. And adventures. Musical adventures, of course. Shipping adventures too. Wooden shipping, at its best, and through it, a tribute, a sincere tribute to sailors.
Paimpol 2009 will not fall short of its tradition. The quays will be dedicated to the wildest, the most convivial family celebration. Music and Chanty- those of sailors of course, but not only, will be naturally spreading around. The boats-hundreds of fully rigged vessels- will be adorned with their historical jewels ...The smell of grilled tuna will waft about the port. We’ll be seeing you on August 7th, 8th and 9th 2009.
